About

My name is Scott, and I have been a webmaster for 8 years now. I just recently created this site because I have had many new webmasters come up to me and ask what host I use. They say that they are looking to switch hosts because they are not satisfied with what they have - either their server constantly down, they can’t get a response from customer service, they’re being overcharged, or any number of other reasons.

Well, I can certainly sympathize with them. My first four years of being a webmaster I switched hosts 11 times - and still did not find one I was happy with. I had many of their same problems - customer service was not helpful at all, I was not getting the server resources I was paying for, or my sites would be down for hours at a time. As you can imagine, this was very frustrating, and I’m sure that you have experienced it also. It shouldn’t be that hard to find a reliable host that has fair prices and quick customer service.

So, like I said, I searched for 4 years to find a reliable host. And then, just when I was so fed up with searching that I was about to give up on my websites, I heard about Hostgator. After a first look on their site, I saw that their hosting packages were powerful for a very reasonable price. They were offering a variety of packages, one of which was perfect for my needs. They had up-to-date versions of all server software, like PHP, MySQL, and Apache. And after reading reviews on them, I was even more convinced that I had finally found my host.

The next thing I did was email them about transferring my site from my old server onto theirs. Within an hour I got a reply back - wow! Usually I had to wait 1 or 2 days to get a response from my old hosts. They told me that it was not a problem and they would transfer my site for me for free - now that’s what I call service. So I was sold. I purchased hosting, re-directed my nameservers, and within a couple of hours my site was up and running on my new Hostgator server. However, after my previous 4 years of bad experiences, I was still wary on how my new host would stack up.

Well, after almost 4 years of hosting with them, I have nothing but good things to say. My experience has been:

  • 99.9% uptime, just like they promised
  • Fast, helpful customer service
  • Have gone out of their way to help me with my site
  • Have always given me the promised server resources
  • Have been very helpful with upgrading to new versions of PHP, MySQL, Apache, etc.

I can finally say that I have found a host that I am 100% happy with, and will be sticking with for good. I highly recommend Hostgator to anyone who is in need of a better host. They offer powerful shared, reseller, and dedicated hosting (Linux and Windows), at very reasonable prices. Just take a look at one of their plans:

Baby Croc Plan

  • 600 GB disk space
  • 6,000 GB bandwidth
  • Unlimited subdomains and addon domains
  • Unlimited MySQL databases and e-mail address
  • PHP5
  • Tons of built in features and easy-install scripts
  • $7.95 per month

Wow! Those are gigabytes, not megabytes. Just take a look at the full details to see all of what you get. And that is just one plan - they have 12 different hosting packages. So to everyone who asks me now what host I recommend, it is without a doubt Hostgator. And for those of you who may be suspicious, what I wrote here is all true.
